Oneself Short”???
Sell oneself short的意思就是把自己賤賣了的意思，也就像是把自己看得很低落，不及他人。通常說這句話的情況大多數是在鼓勵他人，不要妄自菲薄了，要好好端視尊重自己，看到這樣的句子可千萬不要想成『把自己賣短了』… 這樣真的會貽笑大方啊!~
A: Come on, don’t sell yourself short! You’re
such a hot mom.
B: Thanks for your words but I think I’m
really over my prime…
A: Don’t sell yourself short settling down
here in this place. You deserve more. Actually, you could’ve accomplished more!
B: Guess peace has dulled me over these many
past years.
How did I learn this phrase? Well, actually,
I picked it up in a movie, “This is 40”. And tell you the truth, there were tons
of good phrases I learned or again reviewed, but what have I learned the most
in acquiring useful catch-up phrases in a movie is never to learn too many at
one time. That’ll just do the opposite. So, the rule of thumb, maybe one or two
… or three, and you remember and that’s for one time watching the movie. Never
stay greedy but hungry!
